2008 Network and Affinity Leadership Congress- The Event for Network/Affinity Groups
by Diversity Best Practices and Working Mother Media
June 4-5, 2008,
Sheraton Hotel & Towers
New York, NY

Date: [date]

Diversity Best Practices (DBP) and Working Mother Media (WMM) are holding the 2nd annual Network and Affinity Leadership Congress (NALC). More than 200 participants from around the nation, representing Fortune 500 corporate and organizational involvement, participate in leadership training, workshops, networking and cutting-edge discussions.

Network Affinity, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Business Resource Groups (BRGs) serve critical functions within top-performing Fortune 500 companies today. These groups are recognized for assisting recruitment and are effective in improving performance feedback, employee development and retention, multicultural marketing and employee productivity. More recently, these groups are tasked with reaching outside of their organizations to cultivate customer and community relationships and serve as a resource for better understanding the needs and pulse of diverse markets.

NALC provides training to individuals and leaders who are responsible for developing, reinvigorating, and sustaining their network and affinity, employee and business resource groups. Attendees from around the nation, representing Fortune 500 companies and organizations, will participate in leadership training, hands-on workshops, interactive networking roundtables, and cutting-edge discussions to facilitate the sharing of best practices and benchmarks.  Whether launching a new ERG program, re-invigorating a long standing group or aligning a group's mission with their organizations’ business goals, NALC will send leaders back armed with solutions and answers. Among the many topics to be addressed are leveraging your affinity group to reach customers, harnessing the power of executive champions and maximizing affinity groups for global impact. I would like your support in having [COMPANY NAME] sponsor me as a representative for this event.

The event promises to be a productive platform to enhance leadership skills, and network with world-class decision makers. This Congress also presents [COMPANY NAME] with a unique opportunity to learn new strategies for keeping abreast of corporate trends and for fine-tuning our own workplace diversity initiatives. Attendees include leaders and representatives of all types of network/affinity groups such as Asian American, African American, Hispanic, Native American, GLBT, persons with disabilities, as well as entrepreneurs.

The event will be filled with intensive cutting edge interactive sessions including:

  • Success Factors –  managing your group successfully
  • The Business Case – how to leverage your network and affinity group by building relationships and partnerships
  • Innovative Network/Affinity Groups
  • Building & Sustaining Network Groups – how to build your business through network/affinity groups

As a [YOUR ROLE/TITLE] who is deeply dedicated to our corporate mission, I look at this symposium as more than a personal opportunity; it’s a chance for [ORGANIZATION/COMPANY] to further its goals and initiatives.

Attached for your review are the registration materials for the NALC and companies represented in 2007. The program includes several workshops and sessions that will greatly enhance my professional development. I hope you agree and consider funding my participation.

I will follow up with you by [date] to discuss the many benefits [COMPANY NAME] can realize through my participation.

Sincerely,
